20:06 Saturday.
We just attended the Bill Gates memorial ceremony. Oh well, not quite, but there's a tombstone and one minute of silence. After that, they smashed a windows95 cd.
Jolt is almost sold out. They started to sell from the second pallet at 7, and after an hour it's gone. We shared the last couple of tins among a couple of friends.

After that, there was a short film in the circus tent, on winsongs. Some great songs like "Killing you softly with Windows" and titles like that. Brilliant.
Yves arrived, just this afternoon. He's a Le Monde journalist who did an interview with me some time ago. The interview (more a portrait actually) is in Le Monde today, in Holland it'll be available tomorrow. I had told Yves about HIP, he didn't know if he'd go, but there he is. No computer but a pencil ant notebook. He wonders what's happening here, apart from everybody having a computer in their tent.
The weather is nice now. I'm sitting on a bench close to the circus tent, with MJ and Marianne. We'll attend 'the loft' at 9pm, in half an hour. Arjan passes by our bench, and has a chat with Marianne and MJ. He's telling about the fake police badges that various HIP attendants have. These are made in a copyshop in Almere. The organisation doesn't like them because nobody can see who's the real police. Oh well, who cares.
Arjan tells a story what happened after we left the Gates ceremony. A reporter asking whether people really know Bill Gates, why they don't like him, then there was a fight over a windows95 cd between linux enthusiasts and windows95 fans. Like linux couln't have invented if there hadn't been windows.
The field in front of us, the central field between the HALL, circus, food tent and workshop tents is occupied by people chatting, having beer or coffee. It's really relaxed. There's a lecture on anonymous remailers going on, attended by a fair number of HIPpers. People take a walk, others are in their tent operating their computers. Some have sniffers, looking for usernames and passwords. Such a device taps information from both windows computers and linux computers. Obviously, you have to use safe telnet.
