At the camping field, there's all kinds of fun. When I set up a computer and finally got it up and running, it shutdown. All our computers shut down. Like in the tents next to us, and next to them. Half of the field had power failure. In the middle of the field there's the Belgian Linux user group. The biggest tent at HIP (apart from the HALL and the Circus). The tent is full of computers, of all kinds. On the side is a sign that says "no MS windows" Somewhere else there's a sign "Linux Inside", resembling an intel logo. Now it turns out that when these people switch on their mains switch, everything blows. One theory is that the load of their equipment is such that the main fuse blows because of that load. Another theory is that one of their computer shortcircuits. If so how to find out which one? They finally traced down the error to one notebook PC in particular. But, soon afterwards power went down again, and again. It's probably nobody's fault. What can you expect if you put five main outlets on a big field, and let people put their plugs in. I put my plug in the main outlet. Our neighbours don't have a long enough cable and so they plug into our outlet. The people next to them are provided too, and they supply to their friends. Twenty tents with at least thirty computers are hooked up to one outlet thru one thin household cable. The organisation told us to be very careful with fire, because of the heat and dry fields, and flammable tents.
